The Sema Ceremony is a spiritual journey, taken by whirling dervishes on a quest for divine love and man's spiritual ascent to perfection. Every night at 7 pm, you're invited to witness the mystical ritual of the Mevlevi Order, whose whirling dance has been declared a UNESCO Heritage of Humanity.
Don't miss the venue's exhibition, which features interactive Rumi poems, music samples, dervish statues and Information displays about dervishes and their ceremony, and objects such as clothing, books, musical instruments and personal tools.
About Hodjapasha Whirling Dervishes Show and Exhibition
The Whirling Dervishes ceremony is a traditional Sufi practice. The dervishes, dressed in white, spin in a rhythmic dance that symbolises their journey towards spiritual enlightenment. Held at the Hodjapasha Cultural Complex, a converted 16th-century steam bath turned arts centre, settle in for an evening of entertainment set in a historic Ottoman-era building. The complex also offers an informative exhibition on Sufism and the Whirling Dervishes, providing insight into its history.
